Chaos cringed from her burning, blistered paws, but she pushed on.

Chaos, exhausted with aching lungs, collapsed onto the ground.

"Oh, Chaos..." Ulfang murmured before nuzzling her. "...I'm happy you're alive..."

Chaos was breathing heavily. She nuzzled him, too. "You, too."

Chaos lay her head in her paws, nose tickled by the smoke. She let out a huge sigh. Her wing still burned from the sparks that had hit it earlier.

"I'll get some honey to soothe your throat." he said, getting up.

Chaos nodded, and closed her eyes.

Chaos napped for a spell, throat throbbing. She held, though.

Chaos began to lick the honey out of the comb's crevasses. It slid down her throat slowly, soothing it.

Chaos stopped licking the sweet honey and looked back at her mate, who was heading off into the gray, smoking forest.

Ulfang stopped for a moment. "I'll be back in a few minutes." he called over his shoulder. He padded to the den, bracken and grass around it turned to ash. He went in, pawing at a crack in the walls, eventually revealing the Quartz. He picked it up and walked back to Chaos. He wanted to get the Quartz because he was going to suggest that they move to a new place that was more safe.

Chaos saw the gem glinting in the sun in Ulfang's mouth. She smiled at the sight.

Ulfang lay the Quartz down, then lay down himself. "I think that we may need to move. I know that this could happen to any forest, but this place won't grow back for a while, and we'll need a home, even if it is a temporary one."

shadow swooped down and said, "I know of a place that will never burn, and it is safe from caveins as well."

"I'm listening," Chaos murmured.

Ulfang watched Shadow. "Well?"

its near a place called the burn. not far from here. its beoned a few mountain tops. and when Chaos is well enough to fly, we can carry ulfang. it will be a quick trip on wings. it is a very beautiful place. and safe as well.

"what?! i just saved Chaos's life and im giveing you a new place to live!! that not good enough for you?!?"

Chaos brought the Quartz laying on the ground closer to her.
